The Only Food I Consume Today Will Be Raw Milk

Today, the only food that I consume will be raw milk.

Why?

A man named Michael Schmidt is on day 25 of a hunger strike in Ontario, Canada. His demands are simple: a meeting with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty to discuss the legal status of raw milk.

An Ontario court recently found that Schmidt's raw milk was legal--only to have the Ontario government appeal the decision, and win the appeal.

Really, Ontario, you are going to spend a lot of taxpayers' money outlawing a food that people have been consuming for millenia, and that they will keep consuming regardless? Is this the best role of government? Do you not have real problems to address?

I am fortunate to be in a place right now (California) where I can buy raw milk at a store. I am grateful for that. Most people are not so fortunate.

You go Alex! I've been fine on the raw milk fast today despite the fact that I am pretty slender and I was worries a bit about getting a headache .. didn't happen! The hardest part was cooking a yummy dinner for my kids and having to smell it the whole time knowing I wasn't going to take even one bit!

Awesome! Glad to be in such good company with you, Sarah, and with you, Anonymous, on the raw milk fast...although as I noted, it didn't exactly feel like a fast, because I drank a lot of milk!

Oh, and Anonymous, keep up the good work. :-)

Hi Alex - I did not do the fast (I'm on GAPS and also have trouble with fasting), but I'm in solidarity with you and Sarah and I've been posting on my blog, FB, and Twitter. It is very fortunate to be able to walk into a store and buy raw milk. Our health food store sells a local, raw milk that I buy sometimes when I run out from my farmer, and I also feel very lucky. I'm glad there are so many wonderful folks supporting Michael and this cause. :)

I have been learning about the Traditional diet for about a week now, and have yet to purchase raw milk. Here in Oregon I have to buy from a farmer or buy a cow share, and since I don't drive right now it's really hard for me to get out to the country. :( I wish I could buy raw milk at a store. What a luxury! Michael Schmidt is a hero!
